About

Catherine Transler, PhD.

Catherine has been a researcher in developmental cross-cultural psychology for 12 years. She's worked in universities in Europe as a lecturer and researcher (Dijon, Brussels, London, Paris and Amsterdam). She's worked at an international company for the last 7 years, leading international projects on child development, including projects involving physical and mental health issues in children living in poverty.

She also has a professional degree in clinical psychology (a license to practice Psychology with patients, more precisely a DESS diploma from University of Burgundy, France) and have done psychotherapy for children and families for several years before her scientific career.

All together this professional experience has enabled her to address a wide range of child development and cultural issues. She has learned how to use scientific insights to solve concrete problems.

Research interests:
  • Acculturation stress
  • Cross-cultural differences in child cognitive development and emotional well-being (including subsistence economies or bottom of pyramid).
  • Nutrition deficits and psychological development (omega-3, micronutrients)
  • Deafness and reading acquisition (Catherine's initial area of expertise)
